The Barbara K. Lipman Early Learning Center at Temple Israel is actively seeking a full-time Jr. Kindergarten (4s) teacher to join our team! We have a low turnover rate, competitive pay, and a positive work environment. School hours are from 7:15-6 and employee shifts range within this time frame.

Major Function: The lead Jr. Kindergarten teacher is responsible for the care, supervision, and educational experiences of their class of 10-15 4 year olds. This teacher will work collaboratively with an assistant teacher (and before/after care staff) to provide and maintain all aspects of an outstanding classroom environment. The lead teacher will collaborate with another grade level lead teacher for lesson planning and implementation utilizing Creative Curriculum by Teaching Strategies and Learning Without Tears Curriculum. With support from administration, the teacher will collect data and assess student progress, provide intervention and enrichment opportunities, and adjust teaching to meet the needs of all learners. Although everyone has a personal style of relating to children, there must be consistency relating to such issues as discipline, routines, arrival, dismissal, transition times, care of equipment and materials, clean-up, etc.

Program Details: The Barbara K. Lipman Early Learning Center at Temple Israel is a NAEYC accredited Early Childhood program located in East Memphis. Our programming ranges from infant care (6 weeks+) through private Kindergarten. At the core, the ELC is a program grounded in Judaics with a focus on social emotional growth and learning, learning through exploration and play, and meeting the needs of the whole child. We are a Jewish preschool, but we employ a diverse staff from many backgrounds and religions and allow open enrollment for the greater Memphis community.

Employee Requirements:

-Experience with children required

-Bachelor’s degree in a related field strongly preferred (5+ years experience may be accepted in place of degree)

-Experience writing lesson plans and/or following curriculum plans strongly preferred

-Experience with student data collection and formal and informal assessment strongly preferred

-Employees must be 21 or older as required by the state of Tennessee

-Employees must be able to lift 30+ pounds and be on their feet for most of the day
