Overview

Hutchison School, a PK2-12 school for girls, seeks a full-time Director of Sustainability for the 2021-2022 school year. The Director cares for and manages the school’s working farm year-round, which consists of 36 raised beds and the school greenhouse. Additionally, the director provides weekly instruction aligned to sustainability and classroom units for all early childhood and lower school students. Finally, he/she assists with middle school and upper school projects as well. Candidates should be conversant with current practices in hands-on sustainability education, culturally responsive teaching, best practices in farming.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing and keeping a learning garden, teaching young learners and natural sciences in an independent school setting, and will be comfortable teaching girls in a student-centered environment. A Bachelor’s degree is required, and advanced degrees are preferred. Candidates should be passionate about both the field of agri-science, instruction, and the development of adolescent girls.
