Hutchison School, a PK2-12 school for girls, seeks a full-time middle school learning specialist for the 2021-2022 school year. The learning specialist assists all middle school girls to develop skills in the areas of organization, time management, mathematics, analytical thinking and writing, and assists students with diagnosed learning differences. Candidates should be conversant with current practices in supporting all learners, culturally responsive teaching, and management of learning plans. The learning specialist facilitates the learning and support of faculty to differentiate instruction, integrate metacognitive strategies, teach toward mastery, and use student-centered methodologies across all subject areas and grade levels. The learning specialist is charged with detailed record-keeping and data-tracking on all assigned students. Additional support with advisory groups, carpool, study hall oversight, and class trip chaperoning, may be added as necessary.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading learner support in an independent school setting and will be comfortable working with all girls in a student-centered environment. A Bachelor’s degree is required, and advanced degrees are preferred. Candidates should be passionate about both the field of learning differences and the equitable development of adolescent girls and impeccable attention to detail and organizational skills.
