The Collegiate School of Memphis is an independent, private Christian middle and high school in the heart of Memphis., TN Our mission is to prepare young ladies and gentlemen for college success within a highly structured, nurturing, Christian environment. During the 2021-2022 school year, Collegiate will serve over 360 students in grades 6-12. 

Faculty members at Collegiate work under the direction of the Principal and guidance of the STEM Department Chair. Teachers must desire to provide a rigorous college-preparatory education and be dedicated to leading scholars emotionally, socially, and spiritually while upholding global methods, systems, and strategies that support outstanding instruction. As a data-driven school, Collegiate requires great attention to detail and deadlines as we glean accurate data that informs our instruction. 

In addition to teaching, the Computer Science Instructor also supports the overall technology needs of the school under the direction of the Technology Director. The Computer Science/STEM Instructor must be a tech-savvy eager problem solver keen on being part of a dynamic team-oriented department. 


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field 
  • High functional knowledge of computers and peripherals 
  • High functional knowledge of various operating systems and A/V systems ideal 
  • Experience in education setting preferred 
  • Strong interest in high-performing urban education 

Teaching Responsibilities 

  • Teach four (4) technology (CS1, CS2, Robotics 1, etc…) courses per year 
  • Outlines and strategically constructs high school computer science and robotics curriculum 
  • Teach an introductory and advanced high level programming language course (i.e. python, java, etc)
  • Engages students on engineering design strategies using Lego EV3 and/or Arduino 
  • Embrace and foster collaborative approaches to learning through problem solving methodologies, driven by student inquiry and hands on experiences 

Other Technology Support Responsibilities 

  • Perform short-term and long-term troubleshooting 
  • Analyze and solve a variety of hardware, application, and system problems 
  • Aide faculty, staff, and students with technology use and provide training on computer applications
  • Install and setup new and relocated equipment (including computer imagine) 
  • Maintain inventory of technology assets 
  • Setup and run A/V equipment for events 
  • Create and/or edit basic slideshows, videos, and other media for events or promotion 
  • Assist in maintaining hardware, software, servers, and network configurations 
  • Assist in maintaining school website, teacher webpages, and the telephone system 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Technology Director
